The Primary School holds their yearly "Culture Rooms Day" on November 22nd, which definitely is a highlight for the students. Here the parents present different cultures to the children, each country/culture has its own classroom.
Even if this is a school event, coordinated by Lisa Roy, it is strongly supported by the PTA as it is the parents who set up the rooms, organize the activities and make sure the students learn about the different cultures. This year the theme is "Culture through the Arts", the students will look at the arts - visual art, dance, music, drama and more - and how the arts can express beliefs, stories, culture, history and the concept of beauty. So far there are planned rooms for Germany, Mexico, Switzerland, USA, Canada, The Netherlands, Great Britain and France but at least EIGHT MORE ROOMS and additional helpers for some of the existing rooms are needed. The next help and info session is planned for Wednesday, November 8, 1.45 pm. If you want to help in an existing room or have any ideas for a culture room please contact Lisa Roy (Lisa.Roy@bbis.de) - she will help you plan and find resources. You can also use the sign up link.
